Mexico’s National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users reported that it handled 4,114 complaints in Coahuila from January through August 2026, up 13.4% from the previous year and representing 2.1% of the national total. Concluded complaints resulted in MXN 21.5 million being recovered for users, while 26.1% of complaints involved possible fraud through unauthorized purchases or unrecognized electronic transfers. Multiple banking institutions accounted for 61.3% of complaints, followed by insurers at 13.3% and Sofom E.N.R. entities at 11.3%. Credit cards, debit cards and personal loans were linked to 76% of cases. Among banking complaints, unauthorized purchases, unrecognized electronic transfers and abusive debt collection practices represented 39.3% of the sector total. Torreón accounted for 43.4% of complaints in the state and Saltillo for 29.9%.
