The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority has released a consultation package on moving superannuation data collections from Direct to APRA to APRA Connect. It proposes amendments to Reporting Standard SRS 533.0 Asset Allocation, Reporting Standard SRS 610.2 Membership Profile and associated definitions in Reporting Standard SRS 101.0 Definitions for Superannuation Data Collections, and would revoke Reporting Standard SRS 001.0 Profile and Structure Baseline. The stated aim is to align the reporting standards with APRA Connect rather than change the substance of the collections. APRA said it does not plan to change the data scope, format, grain or frequency of the superannuation collection forms as part of the migration. More broadly, APRA had previously planned to migrate all remaining Direct to APRA collections to APRA Connect by December 2027, but the timetable has been brought forward because of the early decommissioning of Direct to APRA client vulnerabilities. For superannuation, support material will be released progressively before collections are made available in the test environment. All remaining superannuation forms except for SAF forms are scheduled to be available in the external test environment in September 2026, with reporting in APRA Connect beginning for the 30 September 2026 reference period. SAF forms are slated for November 2026 and the 31 December 2026 reference period, both to be confirmed. An opt-out model will allow entities to continue using alternative reporting arrangements where required, on a return-by-return basis. Written submissions are due by 21 August 2026.
