Bank Indonesia launched three flagship programs at the 13th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival to strengthen Islamic financial market conduct, improve zakat governance and develop expertise through Islamic social finance. The measures support Indonesia’s broader strategy to deepen Islamic finance, expand the halal economy and increase financial inclusion through digital transformation. The Islamic Financial Market Code of Conduct, developed by industry associations with Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority, is intended to improve the integrity and efficiency of Islamic financial market transactions. An updated Zakat Core Principles index adds a risk management dimension, while a new international scholarship program will use Islamic social funds to support international students and promote the productive use of Islamic social finance instruments. The initiatives come as Indonesia retained fourth place in the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2025/2026, while its halal value chain grew 5.5% year on year in the second quarter of 2026.
