Ireland's Department of Finance announced the appointment of Mr. Frankie Watters, Director and Chair of the Strategy and Risk Committee of Dundalk Credit Union, as a new member of the Credit Union Advisory Committee (CUAC), with outgoing member Professor Olive McCarthy thanked for her contribution. CUAC advises the Minister for Finance and the Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions, and Insurance on credit union issues. Under Section 180 of the Credit Union Act 1997, CUAC’s statutory remit includes advising on improving credit union management, protecting the interests of members and creditors, and other credit union matters referred by the Minister for Finance, the Central Bank, or others specified by the Minister. The committee meets monthly in the Department of Finance, which provides secretariat support and regularly invites stakeholders to share views. From 1 January 2026, CUAC will comprise seven members: Ms Lorraine Corcoran (Chair), Ms Elizabeth Boylan, Mr Michael Byrne, Ms Therese Conway, Mr Diarmaid O’Keeffe, Professor Brian O’Kelly, and Mr Frankie Watters.

Ireland's Department of Finance appointed Mr. Frankie Watters to the Credit Union Advisory Committee (CUAC), succeeding Professor Olive McCarthy. CUAC advises on credit union management and member protection under the Credit Union Act 1997. From 1 January 2026, CUAC will consist of seven members, including Mr. Watters.
