The Central Bank of Uruguay has reiterated its warning to the public about false news and advertisements circulating on social media that use the central bank’s name and image to promote credit offers or financial investments, after detecting a new example. The central bank said it has already taken the relevant measures and asked the public to remain alert, noting that such content may constitute an attempted fraud that should be avoided and reported through the appropriate channels. It also stressed that neither the institution nor its authorities ever make recommendations or offers of credit, investments, or any other financial activity.
