The Bank of England has published an update confirming the appointment of David Soanes and Niamh Moloney as new external members of the Prudential Regulation Committee (PRC), following confirmation by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves. Both will serve three-year terms on the PRC, which takes the most important decisions of the Prudential Regulation Authority. The appointments replace Jill May and Julia Black, who completed their second terms in July 2024 and November 2024 respectively. Soanes is a career investment banker specialising in financial services and a former UK Country Head at UBS, with previous roles including serving on the board of UK Finance and the Leadership Council of The CityUK. Moloney is Professor of Financial Markets Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science and an Independent Non-Executive Director on the board of the Central Bank of Ireland, specialising in financial regulation, institutional structures and supervision.
