The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority has required consumer finance companies to establish the technology needed to connect their databases with the authority’s database. The decision took effect on Sept. 24, 2026, and the authority will issue the governing controls within six months, advancing its broader plan for digital data sharing across supervised finance companies. The electronic systems must provide customer data when financing is approved and real-time information on purchases of goods and services. Companies must also report classifications of financed products and customers’ repayment performance, along with corporate solvency data and related indicators. The linkage is intended to strengthen supervision, support earlier risk detection and generate more precise market indicators, complementing requirements for real-time links to the credit bureau, one-time password identity verification and behavioral analysis of customers.
