The Bank of Cape Verde reported that its Governor, Óscar Santos, and Administrator, António Semedo, participated in the international symposium “Credibility of Central Banks and Monetary Policy” in Maputo on 17 May 2025, held as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Bank of Mozambique and the 45th anniversary of the metical. The symposium covered central bank credibility and transparency, effective monetary policy communication, and financial inclusion. Participants emphasised credibility as a strategic asset that helps central banks anchor inflation expectations, promote financial system stability, and achieve monetary policy objectives with greater precision and impact. The discussions also highlighted the need to build trust among households, markets and institutions, while recognising that monetary policy and its communication alone are not necessarily sufficient to deliver price stability.
