At the KazHackStan 2026 conference, Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan First Deputy Chairman Timur Abilkassymov outlined plans for a full-scale supervisory cyber exercise in 2027. The exercise will involve major banks representing about 90% of banking-sector assets and assess their ability to withstand cyberattacks and restore information systems after potential incidents. The plan follows a pilot in which the agency tested banks’ cyber defenses and recovery readiness. Abilkassymov said the supervisory assessment also covers corporate governance, including banks’ resources, team preparedness and internal processes.
