The Bermuda Ministry of Finance announced that Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt is leading a delegation to DC Fintech Week from Oct. 13 to 16, alongside representatives from the ministry and the Bermuda Monetary Authority. The delegation will meet U.S. regulators and industry representatives to discuss developments in U.S. digital asset regulation, cross-border regulatory engagement and the use of digital assets in Bermuda’s insurance and reinsurance market. Scheduled meetings include discussions with Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael Selig and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins. Burt will also discuss Bermuda’s experience regulating digital asset businesses since 2018 and its efforts to expand domestic adoption. The visit follows Cabinet approval in May 2026 of proposals allowing the government to accept and invest in digital assets, with legislation being prepared for the House of Assembly. Bermuda had 49 digital asset business providers at the end of 2025, up from 36 a year earlier.
