South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance said Second Vice Minister Huh Jang met Greg Guyett, First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, to discuss follow-up to the 18 May letter of intent signed in London to establish a Korea-EBRD artificial intelligence hub. Huh called for close coordination between the South Korean government and EBRD working-level teams to speed the hub's establishment in Korea. The meeting also covered the EBRD's energy policy and green transformation strategy. Huh stressed the need for a resilient and diversified energy system and asked the EBRD to support greater participation by Korean companies in EBRD power infrastructure investment projects. He also requested support for expanding the presence of Korean staff at the bank. The ministry said the Korea-EBRD hub is part of a broader global AI hub plan under which South Korea is also working with the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Asian Development Bank, while discussing a future letter of intent with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration. Guyett said Korean talent is an important asset for the EBRD and reaffirmed support for stronger cooperation.
