The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe reported that annual ZiG inflation fell to 2.9% in August 2026, its lowest single-digit outturn since 1980. Inflation remained below 5% throughout the first eight months of 2026 and averaged 4.0% over the period. Annual inflation rose from 4.1% in January to 4.8% in April following the impact of higher global oil prices on domestic fuel costs, before declining to the August level. ZiG inflation was also slightly below domestic U.S. dollar inflation of 3.1%, indicating that prices in the two currencies had increased at broadly the same pace since August 2025.
