The Central Bank of the Philippines said it has signed an information-sharing agreement with the Department of Justice to strengthen investigations and prosecutions of financial account scams and related offenses under the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act. The arrangement is intended to speed up access to account information needed to trace suspicious transactions and identify those behind online scam activity. The agreement sets procedures for the Department of Justice to request and receive financial account information from the central bank’s Consumer Account Protection Office, pursuant to the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act and BSP Circular No. 1214. It also includes safeguards limiting the use of shared information to authorized purposes and requiring legal protection of that data. The central bank linked the measure to faster action against online scams and said it follows similar information-sharing agreements signed in February 2026 with the National Bureau of Investigation, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
