The Austrian National Bank and the University of Vienna’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics will hold the OeNB Dialogue 2026 on Sept. 24 to examine how digital transformation and geopolitical developments could reshape the euro and Europe’s financial system. Austrian National Bank Governor Martin Kocher, ETH Zurich professor Hans Gersbach and Austrian Economic Chamber banking and insurance representative Eva Landrichtinger will discuss whether the euro could gain or lose international relevance, whether a digital euro could strengthen its global role and how the growing use of stablecoins may affect European financial stability. The discussion will also consider how new forms of digital money could change the roles of central and commercial banks.
