The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, working with Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited and the Insurance Association of Pakistan, has introduced a Life Insurance Policy Finder Service to help the public identify life insurance policies held by deceased relatives and reduce long-standing levels of unclaimed benefits. Implementation is supported by an SECP circular that mandates participation by all life insurance companies and family takaful operators, requires them to respond to policy search queries routed through the system within the agreed turnaround time, and to continue submitting required policy data. The service is accessed by submitting the deceased person’s Computerised National Identity Card number, or CNIC, via SMS, after which the relevant insurer or family takaful operator contacts the beneficiary to guide verification and claims processing if a match is found. The Life Insurance Policy Finder Service is scheduled to be available to the public from 15 December 2025.
