The Central Bank of Estonia has published its monthly flash estimate of the balance of payments for the last month but one. The release provides an early reading ahead of the fuller quarterly publication, with more detailed monthly balance of payments information available on the bank’s website. The bank explained that the monthly estimate is compiled from a smaller data set than the quarterly balance of payments and uses the data available for the reporting month, including administrative sources and reports on international payments. By contrast, the quarterly figures draw on a combined system of representative primary data sources, including company surveys. Because of that narrower monthly data base, the flash estimate involves a degree of subjectivity and is revised once the quarterly balance of payments is published. The balance of payments for the second quarter of 2026 is due to be published on 8 September 2026.
