The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo announced that it is hosting a delegation from the Central Bank of Malta as part of a bilateral cooperation initiative to conduct a governance audit of the Kosovo central bank. The four-day mission, led by Aidan Massa with Daniela Sammut and Bartholomeo Buhagiar, follows an earlier agreement between Governor Ahmet Ismaili and Acting Governor Alexander Demarco and builds on a high-level BQK visit to Malta last year. The delegation will meet senior BQK stakeholders, including the Governor, the Chair and members of the BQK Board, the Head of Internal Audit and relevant department leads, to review working processes, coordinate audit work and exchange governance expertise. BQK noted this is its first governance audit undertaken with a peer central bank that is part of the Eurosystem and the European Central Bank, and framed the exercise as supporting implementation of International Monetary Fund recommendations.
