Senator Tim Scott, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, used remarks at a ribbon cutting and tour of the Pointe Grand Beaufort workforce housing development in South Carolina to highlight housing affordability as a priority for working families and to frame access to safe, affordable housing as central to the American Dream. Pointe Grand Beaufort is expected to deliver 328 new homes aimed at working households in the Beaufort area, including teachers, nurses and service workers. Scott emphasized the costs associated with long commutes and argued that enabling people to live closer to work can reduce expenses and improve family outcomes, while also pointing to bipartisan efforts to lower housing costs, including his ROAD to Housing Act.
