The Central Bank of the UAE announced it will host its first Climate Forum alongside a meeting of the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) in Abu Dhabi on 26 June 2025, positioning the two-day programme as a platform to advance sustainable finance and deepen the integration of climate considerations into financial-sector policy and practice. The Climate Forum will convene financial leaders, policymakers, international sustainable finance and climate risk experts, and senior officials from regulators, central banks, and international financial institutions. Discussions are intended to cover integrating climate policies into risk management and investment, approaches to strengthening financial-sector resilience to future climate and environmental challenges, and frameworks for regional and international cooperation spanning monetary policy, regulation and sustainable Islamic finance, including coordination between the public and private sectors. The NGFS meeting will focus on “greening” monetary policy frameworks, including how climate change impacts can be integrated into monetary policy formulation and operations, alongside reviewing the NGFS’s work progress and future plans.
