The Financial Supervisors Academy, the training and academic arm of the Malta Financial Services Authority, will conclude its External Training Programme with an Oct. 14, 2026, workshop on artificial intelligence in trading and operational systems. The session will examine the implications of AI use for governance, risk management, operational resilience and regulatory compliance. Led by Professor Maria Lucia Passador, assistant professor of corporate law and financial markets regulation at Bocconi University, the workshop will cover AI applications in algorithmic trading, liquidity management, risk modeling, compliance and supervision. It will address risks arising from common technologies and models, concentration among technology providers, and potential effects on liquidity and financial stability. The session will also consider transparency and explainability, the interaction of the EU AI Act with MiFID II, DORA and CRR/CRD, and the use of RegTech and SupTech.
