The Hong Kong Monetary Authority published a notice that Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited has identified several fraudulent websites falsely claiming to be from HKICL and offering "Buyer Online Protection" services for Faster Payment System transactions. The sites purport to provide buyer refunds, reporting for unauthorised online transactions and online transaction support. HKICL said the websites have no affiliation with it or its business. It also stressed that it does not directly provide FPS services to individual members of the public and would not usually contact them proactively. The genuine HKICL websites are https://www.hkicl.com.hk and https://fps.hkicl.com.hk. The public was urged to remain alert to suspicious calls, websites and other communications, protect personal information, verify suspicious communications with HKICL and report suspected fraud to the Police.
