The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic reported that its governor, Héctor Valdez Albizu, received a special recognition from the El Dinero Economic Forum for his contribution to the country’s economic development and stability and for his standing as a central banking practitioner in Latin America. The recognition was presented during the 5th El Dinero Economic Forum 2025, with participation from the Superintendent of Banks and the president of the Dominican Banking Association. In his remarks, Valdez Albizu attributed his work to long-standing service to the institution and highlighted the central bank’s technical capacity, citing a staff of 625 specialists with postgraduate and master’s qualifications, including more than a dozen with doctoral studies, supporting monetary issuance, inflation control, macroeconomic stability and financial system regulation. He also acknowledged the President’s support for an independent monetary policy and credited the Monetary Board as a pillar behind measures adopted to navigate crises and support growth.
