The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) announced that the Banks Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BABiH) has joined the network, bringing SBFN’s community to 98 members across 72 countries. Together with the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s membership, admitted in August 2024, the network and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) positioned the dual public-private participation as a platform to support collaboration and sustainable finance frameworks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Established in 2004, BABiH represents 21 commercial banks and two development banks. In 2023, it partnered with the IFC ECA ESG Advisory Program to strengthen environmental, social, and governance practices in the country’s banking sector, including by developing ESG guidelines intended to improve governance of environmental and social risks and enhance disclosure of ESG and financial information for investors and other stakeholders; SBFN’s global coordinator noted expectations to support BABiH’s work on a national sustainable finance roadmap and framework.
