The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs released a statement from Senator Tim Scott following his meeting with Paul Atkins, President Trump’s nominee to serve as Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Scott said Atkins has championed policies aimed at capital formation and job creation and argued that Atkins’ regulatory experience would be critical to reversing what he described as harm to capital markets under SEC Chair Gary Gensler. He also highlighted Atkins’ focus on regulatory clarity for the digital assets industry and said he looked forward to working with colleagues to quickly consider the nomination.
