The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) reported on its participation in the 2025 Annual Summit of the Global Coalition to Fight Financial Crime, held at Abu Dhabi Global Market on 10–11 September, where President Samya Abou Sharif delivered opening remarks via a pre-recorded video message. In her remarks, Abou Sharif linked progress in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) to clear leadership, a shared vision and commitment across stakeholders, and highlighted MENAFATF’s role in supporting regional and global efforts through member-state cooperation, technical dialogue and policy development aligned with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards. The summit convened over 200 global leaders and experts, with MENAFATF Vice President Hamid Alzaabi participating and Executive Secretary Suliman Aljabrin contributing to a panel on emerging financial crime trends in the MENA region, strategic priorities and effective approaches to implementing FATF standards.
