The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority, through its Regional Center for Sustainable Finance, hosted a delegation from the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone for a coordination meeting to review the Authority’s experience in launching an organised voluntary carbon market under capital market supervisory oversight. Discussions covered the Financial Regulatory Authority’s work to develop the voluntary carbon market and set its regulatory rules, including the dedicated platform for registering carbon-emissions reduction projects and the controls governing it, as well as the rules for issuing, registering and trading carbon certificates. The Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority also presented its sustainability and emissions-reduction strategy, including plans and initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable development in the zone.
