The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority published its latest statistics for the first 10 months of 2024, showing total financing provided through FRA-supervised entities across capital markets and non-banking financial activities reached EGP 718bn. The release also reported key indicators for the insurance sector and activity in the movable collateral registry. Of the EGP 718bn total, equity issuances accounted for EGP 397.4bn, securities issuances other than shares totalled EGP 31.5bn, financial leasing contracts reached EGP 88.4bn, and financing provided to medium, small and micro enterprises totalled EGP 76.7bn. Consumer finance amounted to EGP 47.4bn, discounted papers totalled EGP 55.8bn, and mortgage finance reached EGP 20.9bn; by end-October 2024, registrations over movable assets on the movable collateral registry totalled EGP 2.86tn and outstanding balances of MSME financing stood at EGP 73.7bn. For insurance (January to October 2024), total premiums collected were EGP 77.1bn, split between property and liability insurance at EGP 42.9bn and life and personal insurance and fund formation at EGP 34.2bn; claims paid totalled EGP 35.6bn, split between EGP 16.9bn for property and liability and EGP 18.7bn for life and personal insurance and fund formation, while investments of private insurance funds totalled EGP 22.3bn.
