The Central Bank of Russia published its assessment of banking sector developments in July 2026, reporting that banks’ claims on corporates, including bonds, grew 1.5%, up from 0.4% in June. About one-third of the increase came from large state-owned companies, with borrowers across other sectors accounting for the remainder. The portfolio expanded 13.8% in annualized terms. Mortgage growth slowed to 0.4% from 1.0% after the government postponed tighter terms for the Family Mortgage program, while consumer lending remained rapid at 1.1%. Household deposits rose 0.3% and corporate deposits increased 0.6%. Banking sector profit climbed 18% from June to RUB 443 billion as corporate loan loss provisions declined, although negative revaluation of debt securities reduced the overall financial result to RUB 422 billion.
