The China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission published the outcome of a disciplinary investigation into Sun Jianning, a former first-level inspector of the Shandong Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau, resulting in his expulsion from the Communist Party and the transfer of a suspected bribery case to the procuratorate for review and prosecution. The investigation found serious violations of political, organisational and integrity discipline, including resisting organisational review, accepting travel arrangements and banquets that could affect the fair performance of official duties, failing to truthfully report personal matters, seeking personnel benefits for others, accepting gifts and consumer cards, illegally borrowing vehicles from regulated parties, holding shares in unlisted companies, and having others pay personal expenses. It also found power-for-money transactions in which he used his position to seek benefits for others in business operations and illegally accepted large amounts of property; his regulatory treatment was cancelled, disciplinary and illegal gains were confiscated, and related property was transferred with the case.
