Mexico's National Banking and Securities Commission announced the start of the payout process for savers of Sociedad Financiera Popular CAME, following the management intervention decreed in June 2025 and the revocation of CAME’s authorisation on 19 September 2025. The reimbursements will be made under the Popular Savings and Credit Law using resources from the Fondo de Protección de Sociedades Financieras Populares y de Protección a sus Ahorradores (PROSOFIPO), without using public budget funds. The scheme provides repayment of up to 25,000 UDIS per person (approximately MXN 219,000), which is expected to cover more than 99.5% of CAME’s savers, or 169,564 individuals. PROSOFIPO is funded through periodic contributions from all Sofipos, and the rules for submitting payment claims were published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, with requests to be made via an electronic platform or through service centres that may be enabled for this purpose.
