The UAE Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA) announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Waleed Saeed Al Awadhi, has been elected chair of the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) Africa and Middle East Regional Committee (AMERC). AMERC comprises 27 securities regulators. In the chair role, Al Awadhi will work to advance cross-border regulatory cooperation and promote investor protection, with the SCA positioning the appointment as recognition of Emirati regulatory leadership and the UAE’s growing role in developing regional capital markets.
