The Insurance Commission of the Bahamas reported on its participation in the 2025 Global Forum on Private Pensions in Istanbul, Türkiye, positioning the engagement as part of its work to strengthen pension supervision after The Bahamas became a Governing Member of the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS) in September 2025. The forum, jointly organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), IOPS, the Turkish Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Authority, and the Pension Monitoring Center of Türkiye, convened 130 senior officials and experts from 52 countries. Discussion topics included pension digitalisation, asset-backed pension systems, payout phase design and supervision, life cycle strategies, voluntary participation, and the role of pension funds in capital market development, with the Commission indicating these exchanges would inform its work in The Bahamas and its collaboration with IOPS.
