The Australian Securities & Investments Commission has opened a consultation on remaking five legislative instruments that provide financial reporting relief and are due to sunset on 1 October 2025. ASIC’s proposal would preserve the existing relief, with only minor updates to keep the instruments current. The instruments are ASIC Corporations (Non-Reporting Entities) Instrument 2015/841, ASIC Corporations (Post Balance Date Reporting) Instrument 2015/842, ASIC Corporations (Related Scheme Reports) Instrument 2015/839, ASIC Corporations (Stapled Group Reports) Instrument 2015/838, and ASIC Corporations (Externally-Administered Bodies) Instrument 2015/251. ASIC’s assessment is that they continue to operate effectively and form a necessary part of the framework, with proposed amendments limited to drafting style updates and a clarification that the relief in Instrument 2015/251 is not intended to apply to registrable superannuation entities. Feedback is requested by 5pm AEST on 1 August 2025, with further details set out in CS 24 Proposed remake of financial reporting-related legislative instruments.
