The Islamic Development Bank said its chairman, Muhammad Al Jasser, held talks in Baku with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev on deepening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the IsDB Group ahead of the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings. In that context, Al Jasser reaffirmed the Bank’s support for Azerbaijan’s Vision 2030 and pointed to an upcoming Member Country Partnership Strategy for Azerbaijan covering 2027 to 2031 that is expected to broaden cooperation across key sectors. The Bank said its collaboration with Azerbaijan has delivered about USD 1.8 billion in development financing since the country became a member in 1992, spanning agriculture, water resources, energy, transport and financial services. The planned 2027 to 2031 framework is expected to expand cooperation in economic diversification, regional integration, infrastructure, Islamic finance and sustainable development. Baku will host the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings from 16 to 19 June 2026 under the theme Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity. The Bank said the meeting will provide a platform for member countries to strengthen cooperation and discuss shared development priorities.

Islamic Development Bank reaffirms Azerbaijan partnership and outlines planned 2027 to 2031 strategy ahead of June annual meetings
The Islamic Development Bank reported that its chairman met Azerbaijan’s president in Baku to discuss deepening the strategic partnership ahead of the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings and reaffirmed support for Azerbaijan’s Vision 2030. The Bank highlighted that it has provided about USD 1.8 billion in development financing to Azerbaijan since 1992 and plans a 2027–2031 Member Country Partnership Strategy to expand cooperation in economic diversification, regional integration, infrastructure and sustainable development.
