The Bank of the Lao convened a one-day knowledge-sharing seminar with the Central Bank of Malaysia focused on management of foreign currency inflows and outflows. Held under the bilateral cooperation framework between the two central banks, the session was chaired by Manola Mueangmani, head of the Bank of the Lao’s Foreign Exchange Management Department, with Bank Negara Malaysia representatives delivering presentations. The agenda covered Malaysia’s foreign exchange administration policy, the use of foreign currency and the Malaysian ringgit (MYR) by residents and non-residents, oversight of cross-border cash movements, and the financial transaction reporting system currently used by the Central Bank of Malaysia, alongside discussion of practical lessons and challenges.
