The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has launched SMPC 2026 and issued next-step instructions to registered schools as the competition moves into its first working phase. Schools are being told to finalize their official teams and begin Assignment and Task Guide 1, with the competition focused on how participants translate and present the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe's policy positions in practical form. Each participating school is expected to confirm a team comprising one Child Governor, two Child Deputy Governors and one Teacher-in-Charge during the 30 July to 5 August 2026 selection period. District Schools Inspectors will facilitate cluster competitions to identify schools for the district stage. At cluster level, schools must submit reports meeting the Assignment and Task Guide 1 requirements, including photographs, videos or other visual material, and deliver a Monetary Policy Statement presentation of no more than four pages. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe also urged participants to use its resource materials, work with their communities and coordinate closely with District Schools Inspectors. A second set of assignments will be issued only to the 72 District Champion Teams that qualify for the provincial competitions. District competitions are scheduled for September 2026, after which district winners will advance to provincial contests for the chance to represent their provinces at the next stage and ultimately the national finals.
