The United Arab Emirates National Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Illegal Organisations Committee and Spanish authorities agreed to launch a strategic dialogue, continue technical exchanges and strengthen coordination against cross-border financial crime. Discussions focused on operational cooperation, information sharing, joint investigations, extradition and asset recovery. The talks also covered anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing frameworks, cooperation between financial intelligence units, targeted financial sanctions, trade-related money laundering and cross-border cash movements. The UAE delegation briefed Spanish counterparts on legislative, regulatory and institutional developments, including its updated National Risk Assessment and related national strategy, in the context of the Financial Action Task Force mutual evaluation process.
