The Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Finance announced the launch of an SME Forex Window as a pilot project delivered through the Export Import Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (EXIMBANK), expanding existing government foreign exchange programmes to support small and medium business activity. The window is initially available to clients of Republic Bank Limited and First Citizens Bank Limited, and is open to SMEs across all sectors, including retail and services. Eligible businesses can access up to USD 50,000 per month for international business expenses. Applications require uploading relevant financial and company information on the EXIMBANK website; once approved, EXIMBANK will issue a letter that the business will use at its Republic Bank or First Citizens commercial branch for settlement and payment processing directly to international vendors. Use of the facility is subject to anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism requirements. Access to the facility is scheduled to begin on 22 April 2025.
