The Portuguese Securities Commission (CMVM) concluded five administrative offence proceedings in the first quarter of 2026, imposing three fines totaling EUR 50,000 and issuing two reprimands. Three cases concerned financial intermediaries’ conduct of business, while the others involved anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) obligations and statutory auditors’ performance. The CMVM also opened seven proceedings, comprising three AML/CFT cases, two involving statutory auditors and two concerning market disclosure requirements. At the end of March, 55 proceedings were ongoing, led by 20 involving statutory auditors and 13 concerning financial intermediation duties, while one additional proceeding awaited a court ruling.
