The European Central Bank published its weekly financial statement, reporting total assets and liabilities of EUR 6,192,365 million, down EUR 6,903 million from the previous week due to transactions. On the asset side, securities of euro area residents denominated in euro fell EUR 11,579 million to EUR 4,143,933 million, driven by a EUR 14,121 million decline in securities held for monetary policy purposes to EUR 3,838,489 million. Lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations decreased EUR 290 million to EUR 19,220 million, while other claims on euro area credit institutions denominated in euro dropped EUR 3,638 million to EUR 28,586 million. On the liability side, banknotes in circulation rose EUR 93 million to EUR 1,590,669 million, while liabilities to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations declined EUR 22,245 million to EUR 2,730,660 million, mainly reflecting a EUR 20,841 million fall in the deposit facility to EUR 2,570,088 million.
