Mozambique’s Minister of Finance Carla Loveira participated in a meeting of the International Monetary Fund’s First African Constituency that addressed monetary and fiscal policy amid global shocks and uncertainty. The meeting also reviewed outgoing Executive Director Adriano Ubisse’s representation of the constituency’s member countries and emphasized stronger African participation in global economic and financial decision making. Pedro Castro Silva of Angola succeeds Ubisse as executive director after serving as alternate executive director from 2024 to 2026. Loveira highlighted cooperation among African countries and international financial institutions as a means of strengthening the continent’s representation in multilateral forums.
