Bermuda's Ministry of Finance published an update on Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt’s 24 March visit to Luxembourg for high-level meetings intended to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in international finance, insurance and investment, including showcasing Bermuda’s track record as a compliant, transparent and well-regulated international business jurisdiction. The programme included meetings with Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Finance Minister Gilles Roth, discussions with European Investment Bank Vice President Ioannis Tsakiris on potential technical support and investment partnerships, and engagement with the Luxembourg Insurance and Reinsurance Association (ACA) on shared interests as global insurance and reinsurance hubs and Bermuda’s continued commitment to maintaining its Solvency II equivalence with the European Union. Burt was accompanied by Financial Secretary Chidozie Ofoego and Aliyyah Ahad, Director and EU Representative in the Brussels Office. Following the Luxembourg visit, Burt returned to London and is scheduled to return to Bermuda on 26 March.
