The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan reported that the “Effective Governance and Macroeconomic Indicators” working group under the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings held a videoconference meeting on 29 July 2025 to review progress against its approved activity plan for the year. Participants included responsible officials from the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the State Oil Fund, the State Statistics Committee, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of Azerbaijan. Reports on work completed in the first half of the year covered budget transparency, debt sustainability, the burden of state regulation, monetary freedom, the Global Innovation Index, and the effective management of natural resources. The working group chair, Azer Alasgarov, Director of the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Department, concluded that work to implement the activity plan should continue and highlighted the need to communicate information on completed work more effectively.
