The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) held its third annual Sustainability Week from June 23 to 27 at its headquarters in Makati City, centred on staff and stakeholder activities promoting sustainability practices and climate-risk awareness in the corporate and capital market context. The programme opened with a two-day capacity-building series covering the Philippine Sustainable Finance Taxonomy Guidelines and sustainable investments for non-bank financial institutions. It also included “SustainaHubs” hosted by SEC departments, internal seminars on topics such as waste management, circular habits and water conservation, and an Arbor Day-linked visit to the SEC Forest Site in the Angat Watershed in Norzagaray, Bulacan, where around 2,500 Narra seedlings have been planted. The release also reiterated ongoing SEC initiatives, including its 2024 Sustainable Enterprise Collaboration Network (eSECnature) and the requirement since 2019 for publicly listed companies to submit annual sustainability reports.
