The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority has required licensed consumer finance companies to digitally verify applicants’ data and obtain behavioral scores based on alternative data from credit bureau I-Score. Companies must consider the scores when deciding whether to grant or reject financing, with the behavioral scoring requirement taking effect on April 1, 2027, once I-Score’s system is ready. The requirements supplement existing customer data verification, digital identity and credit inquiry rules. Together with recently mandated real-time links between non-bank finance providers and I-Score, the measure is intended to improve creditworthiness assessments and reduce default and nonpayment risks.
