Department of Finance Canada published a notice that Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne has appointed Elio Luongo to the Board of Directors of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board for a three-year term. The update concerns the governance of CPP Investments, the arm's-length investment manager for Canada Pension Plan assets not currently needed to pay pension, disability, and survivor benefits. CPP Investments is responsible for investing those funds in a diversified portfolio on behalf of Canada Pension Plan contributors and beneficiaries. The release notes that directors of CPP Investments are selected by the federal government in consultation with participating provincial governments.
