Moldova's National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF) organised an information session on strengthening consumer protection in financial services through harmonisation of national legislation with the European Union acquis, aimed at familiarising participants with EU acts and provisions expected to affect financial service providers. The session brought together representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Association of Banks of Moldova, the National Central Association of Savings and Loan Associations, licensed banks, payment institutions, electronic money issuers and non-bank credit organisations. Discussion covered the key elements and operational impact of Directive 2014/92/EU on payment account fee comparability and account switching, Directive (EU) 2023/2673 on distance contracts for financial services, Directive (EU) 2019/882 on accessibility requirements, Directive (EU) 2023/2225 on consumer credit, and Directive 2014/17/EU on credit agreements for residential immovable property. CNPF positioned the session as part of a broader series of initiatives to align Moldova’s framework with EU requirements and, together with other institutions, to support financial sector entities through implementation.
