The Board of Directors of the National Bank of Hungary has nominated Tibor Tóth as Chief Executive Officer of the Budapest Stock Exchange, effective 1 May 2025, replacing Richárd Végh. The central bank linked the leadership change to its objective of supporting Hungarian businesses’ access to capital through a developed, liquid and transparent capital market, including strengthening the stock exchange’s regional role and efforts to unify EU capital markets. Tóth previously served as state secretary for macroeconomic and international affairs and has held senior roles at Citibank and KDB Bank. Governor Mihály Varga thanked Végh for his nine years leading the exchange and indicated his expertise would continue to be relied on.
