The Bank of Cape Verde published an account of its participation in the 2026 African Caucus, held in Banjul, Gambia, from July 6 to 8. The meeting of African governors of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group focused on unlocking financing for structural transformation and using natural resources to support quality jobs and inclusive growth. Discussions covered African central banks’ experience in purchasing gold, measures to strengthen regional trade, African-led borrower coordination and efforts to restore fiscal space through stronger revenue collection systems. Participants also considered the draft 2026 African Caucus Memorandum and the Banjul Declaration.
