The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan met with Switzerland’s Cooperation Office in Tajikistan (SECO) to mark the end of outgoing head Salome Steib’s mandate and welcome incoming head Denise Luci, signalling continued cooperation and readiness to pursue new initiatives with international development partners, particularly in the banking sector. Chairman Firdavs Tolibzoda thanked Steib for her contribution to Tajikistan–Switzerland cooperation, highlighting support for strengthening banking-system capacity, improving transparency and backing reforms, including through work with the central bank. He congratulated Luci on her appointment and indicated the partnership with SECO would continue based on mutual respect, trust and constructive dialogue. Discussions also covered using existing capacities more effectively and exploring different areas of cooperation, with SECO described as a unit of the Swiss Confederation’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs that applies economic and trade policy expertise through projects with partner countries.
